Your Child is Watching You!

Parents

How do you handle disappointment? What is your attitude when things don't go your way? Do you feel life would be better if all other humans were gone? How about tantrums do you have one daily?
If the answer to any of these questions are yes, then you need to get yourself together because your child is watching you!
As a director, over the years many parents have said I don't know why my little (put a child's name here)_______________is throwing a tantrum. Where ever we go he or she throws a tantrum.
Webster describes a tantrum as "a fit of anger" The bible says "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, Ephesian4:26
In other words:
* Check your attitude Lead by example
* Think and pray before responding to situations
* Never be afraid to say Sorry!
* Begin each day with prayer and ask Jesus to prepare you for all that can come your way!
* Gently train up your child in the way of the Lord. Children need your guidance and discipline just make sure you remember "Your Child is Watching You!

Toddlers -Hitting Hands

Teachers have often asked "How do I stop my toddlers from hitting?" Just a few things that can cause a toddler to hit:
1. Older siblings, parents wrestling or play fighting with a child.
2. Just as biting can be territorial, hitting can also be territorial.
3. Not enough toys, material or activities to keep a child busy.
4. Cramped spaces

Working on the "Problem"!

1. Daycares cannot work on this problem alone. Parental help is necessary to help control the problem. If there is any wrestling or play fighting at home, ask if they would stop and find other ways to have fun with their toddler!
2. Make sure that you (the teacher),don't have too many children in a center or play area. (usally 2 or 3 depending on space).
3. It's always nice to have an abundance of materials but sometimes that is not possible. Here is a list of a few things you can create- prop boxes(at least 3 of each items), activity folders and creative puzzles.
4.Make sure you are using your space wisely. Oversized furniture takes up alot of space.
5.Reinforce verbal communication skills and friendly hands!
6.Redirection always helps and use loads of love. Remember, as the teacher your guidance and patience is very important.

Will You Take The Challenge ?

2010 is almost upon us. Will you take a challenge? In 2010 will you make it a point to draw ever so close to Jesus. Seek Him first before making a decision you will regret. Listen to Him, He still speaks to his people. Learn more about Him, read the Bible, and attend Church.
Now this is the easier part of the challenge choose to say something nice about people or don't say anything at all. If you can't find the good in a particular person then pray for them.
Spend more time with your own family in 2010, praising them instead of putting them down. It's never to late to mend a broken relationship with your older children. Love covers a multitude of sins (I Peter 4:8). So Love more! You would be surprise what Love and Praise can do!
2010 should be a time when each of us decide: Less of me and more of Jesus.

Taking the Challenge

Never Give Up !

Never Give Up!

A few weeks ago I was really facing a major problem. I had prayed about this problem for a while. The Lord assured me that He had it all under control and I needed to trust Him; I was reminded of King David saying “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalms 37:25.
Christ was more then faithful. Never Give up! I know things look hopeless on the news, or in the newspaper. Maybe you are walking through something that seems to grow larger each day, remember He commands the storms. Never Give Up! Remember He will never leave you! I’m a witness!

Robin – If you have a Never Give up story please share it with us!

Riversong is NOW OPEN!

Riversong opened February 9, 2009 with a fantastic staff and five children. Since then we have been on the move. June 22, 2009 began our Summer Academic/Tutorial Program. Each day from 9 am to 12 noon we concentrate on the academic areas which our children are struggling in such as: Math facts, Division, Fractions, Phonics, Reading, English, Writing and Spanish.
There are just a few slots open - bring your son or daughter for summer help. The Academic Program ends July 31; then we will have all day Summer Camp until August 21, 2009.
Our Summer Camp is full of fun activities, special guests, outdoor games, nature walks... Thus far the children have planted a garden with lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. The children have enjoyed eating salads in the afternoon from their garden. On one of their nature walks they discovered a small snake and red ants; the look on the children’s faces was priceless. The children really enjoy cooking outdoors and eating under the pavilion.
We have croquet, volleyball, badminton, parachutes and a basketball court.
Come join the fun!

We are working hard to meet the target date of the first week in January. The drywall work is complete, flooring is going in this week, the painting is scheduled for this weekend, and many of the other important details are rapidly nearing completion. We're all excited at the progress.

Here's a picture of the progress on the main room, taken on December 14th.

Welcome to the Riversong Director's Notes

Riversong Christian Learning Center is due to launch in early 2009 - perhaps as soon as early January! We're still working hard on the renovations to the facility, so you won't find any photos here yet (they would just show lots of drywall dust and electrical wires and missing ceiling tiles). And we're working hard on hiring the teachers and staff, so you won't find any staff bios or details just yet. But the website is here, ready to serve you, and each time you visit you'll find more and more information. So check back soon!
